Inter Authoriy Athletics
Congratulations to the 9 pupils who were selected to represent Renfrewshire in the Inter Authority Athletics Championship against Inverclyde and East Renfrewshire. All pupils gave excellent performances despite a full day of competition at our own school championships the previous day. We returned to school with an exceptional medal haul.

Renfrewshire Schools S5/S6 Badminton
Well done t oLuke Keenan and Ryan McLaughlin who both competed in the recent Renfrewshire Schools Seniour Badminton Championship. Both boys played extremely well against tough opposition. Unfortunately neither of the boys made the final but they did themselves and St Benedict's proud.

School Badminton Championship 2016
Entries are now being taken for the 2016 Badminton Championship in the following age categories:
S1/2 Girls S1/2 Boys
S3/4 Girls S3/4 Boys
S5/6 Girls S5/6 Boys

The competition will run from January until Easter. Matches will be held at lunchtimes.
Please give your name to any of the PE staff if you wish to enter. Entries close on Friday 15th January.

The Scottish Schools Indoor Athletics Championship
The Scottish Schools Indoor Athletics Championships take place at the Emirates Arena on Wednesday 3rd and Thursday 4th February 2016. There are strict qualifying times and distances for this event. If any pupil is interested in competing at these championships and thinks they will have qualified, please see Mrs McCartney in the PE department for more information

Congratulations to Mia Shepherd and Niamh Barclay who represented St Benedict's at the Scottish Schools Athletics Championships at Grangemouth at the weekend. Mia won Gold in the Girls Over 17 Hammer and Niamh won Bronze in the Girls Over 17 Discus. Well done to both girls...great achievements.

Girls Fitness Club
A new 'girls only' fitness club will begin on Wednesday 14th January. The club takes place straight after school 2.45 - 3.45pm. Coaches from Active Communities will be leading the club as part of the Hearty Lives Project. There is no cost and pupils should wear comfortable leisure clothing.

Linwood Parkour
A new Parkour Club has been established in St Benedict's on a Tuesday evening. The club is open to 11 - 18 year olds who live or go to school in Linwood. Young people attending will coached by Glasgow Parkour. There are 2 sessions....6-7pm and 7-8pm. 2.50 per session.

Under 15 Football
Congratulations to the Under 15 football team who have won their section before Christmas. They are unbeaten in the League and are in the the fourth round of the Scottish Cup - Well done!!

Well done to 8 S3 and S4 pupils who represented St Benedict's in the Renfrewshire Badminton Tournament at Linwood On-X on Friday. They all played well but unfortunately noone made it to the finals in June.

Thirty athletes represented St Benedict's at the recent Renfrewshire Schools Athletics Championships. Medal Winners were as follows:

St Benedict's Cross Country Championships
The St Benedict's Cross Country Championships took place on Monday 22nd April. In driving rain all runners gave of their best and provided some exciting finishes. The Sports Leaders,who, organised the event are to be congratulated on the smooth running of the morning.

Girls rugby teams take part in the Glasgow 7's
The junior and senior girls rugby teams attended the Glasgow girls 7's tournament on the 1st March at Scotstoun stadium.
The junior girls played 3 games, winning 1 and scoring plenty of tries!
The senior girls took part in their tournament in a combined team including pupils from Gryffe and Castlehead and made it all the way to the final before being edged out 6-5. The senior girls have now qualified for the national finals! Congratulations to all the girls who took part.
The girls now have the Renfrewshire championships to look forward to on the 20th March in Paisley

West of Scotland Boccia Championships
Luke Deighan and Kyle Gunn have been chosen to represent Renfrewshire at the West of Scotland Boccia Championships on Tuesday 27th November. Both boys did really well at the recent Renfrewshire Championships where Kyle was runner up and Luke won.

There will be an Interschool Triathlon (which will consist of a swim, cycle and run) held during the October break and we are looking for pupils to represent St Benedict's.

2 x S5/6 Girls, 2 x S5/6 Boys
