Course Title: Health & Food Technology

Course Level: N4/5

 

HFT is designed for those who are interested in food and health. It will develop your knowledge of nutrition, product development and consumer food issues. In HFT you will learn how to:

  • Plan, prepare and cook different recipes.
  • Reduce the risk of diet related health conditions. ✓ Adapt recipes to meet dietary advice.
  • Design and evaluate new food products.
  • Understand food and the consumer’s needs.

S3 HFT can progress into N4, N5 and Higher levels. There is practical cookery involved in the course however; you will be assessed through a design and make technological project and a written exam.

With a qualification in HFT you could go on to become a: 

  • food product developer
  • doctor
  • nurse
  • dietician
  • sports coach
  • teacher
  • food journalist
