Introduction
Mr Taylor - Thu Oct 25th

Dear Parent/Carer

I am delighted to introduce myself as the new Head Teacher of St Benedict’s High School.

Working with young people in their formative years is a great responsibility. It is also, for me, a great privilege and my passion. My teaching career to date includes class teacher of Physics and Mathematics, Principal Teacher of Mathematics and latterly Depute Head Teacher. As a result of the experience that I gained in each of these roles, I have developed a clear understanding of what makes a school successful.  An excellent school is an environment where every pupil feels empowered and supported. Where everyone - teachers, pupils, families - work together to enable our young people to develop their confidence and skills. I firmly believe that in a vibrant Catholic community of faith and learning each and every pupil can achieve their potential in attainment and achievement. This is my vision for St Benedict's High School.

As a leader of a Catholic school, I will endeavour to ensure that our Gospel Values are central to school life. I will strive to ensure that everyone feels valued and respected. It is of the utmost importance to me that every pupil's wellbeing needs and aspirations are supported in a caring, inclusive environment.

My first task is to get to know you all.  You play a crucial role in supporting your child. I value your opinions and contributions and hope to meet with you in person in the very near future. I also look forward to visiting the wider community so that I can promote and support the good relationships that our young people, as good citizens, have already established.

I have high expectations for all pupils in discipline, attendance and work ethos. I am committed to ensuring that all young people have a voice and that their voice is heard. Pupils should be at the centre of their learning and that begins with a clear understanding of their own learning journey. This, of course, is developed through high quality teaching and learning experiences, delivered by motivated and skilled staff. I am looking forward to working closely and collaboratively with staff members, using their expertise and knowledge to deliver a curriculum which offers breadth, depth, and challenge to motivate learning and engagement.

I am very excited about the future and what lies ahead for St Benedict’s High School. As Head Teacher and member of the school community I look forward to meeting and working with you all.

Yours sincerely

Alan Taylor

Head Teacher
